The Work of the Holy Spirit

Re: Verse reading–Acts 2:1-41 (day four)

God had placed the nation of Israel at the crossroads of the world.  At the Day of Pentecost, there were devout men from every nation under heaven present.  God had assembled His band of ambassadors to carry the gospel around the world.  The Holy Spirit spoke through the disciples so that every man heard the message in his own native tongue.  The message each man heard was of the mighty deeds of God.  Immediately, the Spirit began to give insight and understanding of Scripture.

Today, we look for and attribute many deeds to the Holy Spirit.  Lest we forget though…the Holy Spirit leads people to God.  Evangelism is the work of the Holy Spirit.  In our electronic age of internet and social media, we have an even greater opportunity to spread the gospel to every nation under heaven.  God used Israel’s position at the world’s crossroads to distribute His message…how will he use our church to be His spokesman in the center of our city?

  1. Thanks for the blog. It is good to be reminded about the work of the Holy Spirit who leads people to God and that Evangelism is the work of the Holy Spirit.

I totally agreed that in this electronic age of internet and social media, there are opportunities for Christians to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and to spread church services. Using popular social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and so on is a great way for church outreach programs, for distributing God’s message, and for leading people to God. Unbelievers need time to learn and to understand who Jesus is by truth and can make informed choice to come to God.

I recently used Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to share FBCSA Hurricane Harvey Reliefs announcement. I use social media on a daily basis at both personal and professional level. We live and work in an increasingly Internet-based and in a changing world where social media seems to be the core communication for every one, for every profession globally; therefore, tapping into this source of global communication is a smart way, in my view, to serve Jesus’ mission.

I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide what the best and most effective way to bring God’s message to the changing world in terms of social, economic, political, and cultural, using electronic mediums and social media. A changing mindset from the old one might be needed to strengthen the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this increasingly and fast changing electronic age. I pray that the Holy Spirit will work in each of us and give us the wisdom for choices that would help spread the Gospel effectively in this changing society.
