Cheerful Giver

Re:Verse reading–Acts 20:17-38 (day seven)

“remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ Acts 20:35b

We say this very same thing to our kids during the Christmas season, but do we believe it?  I would like to think that I believe it, but the proof is in the pudding.  You have to try it if you say you believe it.  You do not need a special formula or occasion to give.  Just step out and give.  Give to someone you care about, give to someone who really wants something you can afford, give to someone who has been on your mind recently.  Just as an exercise in obeying Scripture experimentally give and see what happens in your life.

I would guess many good things will happen because of your generosity.  The most important thing that will happen though is that you will become a little more like God, and a little more like Jesus Christ.  They were the ultimate givers.  God gave his one and only Son, and Jesus gave up his life.  That generosity was specifically for you as a free gift.  Let God bless you by teaching you to be a cheerful giver in the same way.  Try it today even before Christmas rolls around.

  1. Great blog about giving. Giving is an expression of loving and caring. It is a great personal attribute to help build a community of God’s people and to help make a difference for our loved ones and our surroundings. An act of giving counts.

Can any human beings love other humans so much to the point that they send their loved ones to die for others so others can live? Can any human beings give their lives to Jesus the way Jesus gave His life to please His Father so others can become righteous in God’s eyes? Can any human beings give generously and without limitations because God gave? Can any human beings think of and about others more than themselves?

God did not receive anything from us except His requirements for us to have faith and trust in Him but we have received His free gift of eternal life. Will God bless us more if we start giving back to God by obeying and following God’s examples of giving, loving and caring? No matter what we think, thinking about others through giving will pave the way for a community of happy people!

Giving is a privilege and a responsibility for those who have received from God the free gift of eternity. Giving can take different shapes and forms but the spirit of giving is of God. It is the heart that counts.

I could not agree more, “Give to someone you care about, give to someone who really wants something you can afford, give to someone who has been on your mind recently.” These elements are within my foundation for sharing with those in my surroundings.

One small step of giving at a time; and gradually, we all can make a difference in our surroundings. Most people do appreciate the thoughts of being remembered, of being honored or of being recognized. The concept and the spirit of giving is applied and seen beyond personal level. Many organizations recognize employees through various giving opportunities all year round. It is not new but it needs to be practiced more often.

I believe in the good act of giving. Do give when your heart is so willing and when the Holy Spirit leads you. For any cheerful givings, it must come from the heart. I will read the Scriptures of Giving. I am so motivated!
